The Aquafine AF85 is a short handle round brush — the most versatile shape in watercolour painting. The belly holds a generous reservoir of colour while the tip comes to a fine point, allowing you to move between broad washes and precise detail without changing brushes. The candle-flame profile of the AF85 gives it a particularly good belly-to-tip ratio, making it responsive across a wide range of marks.
The AF81 size 10/0 is a Spotter — a very short, fine-tipped brush designed specifically for the smallest detail work: touching in highlights, adding fine texture, and any mark that requires maximum precision with minimal paint. It's a specialist brush rather than an everyday one, but invaluable when you need it.
Both are made from Daler-Rowney's synthetic filament blend, which holds colour well and maintains a reliable point. The AF85 is available in sizes 10/0 through 30; the AF81 Spotter is available in size 10/0.
